Cricket Clothing Size Guide
Playing kit is sized on two numbers: the chest at its fullest, and the natural waist. Both are taken with the tape level all the way round, which is easier said than done at the back.
Take the measurement first
Chest
From the fullest part of the chest to back around to the start, in centimetres.
Arms down, breathing normally. Take the tape around the fullest part of the chest and keep it level all the way round — it is easy to let it ride up at the back.
Between two sizes: Take the larger size for match kit; playing shirts are worn loose.
Waist
From the natural waist to back around to the start, in centimetres.
Find the natural waist — the narrowest point, above the hip bone — and take the tape around it, snug but not pulled in.
Between two sizes: Take the larger size; trousers are worn on the hip with a drawcord.
Chest and waist, level all the way round
The part people get wrong
- Keep the tape level all the way round. It is easy to let it ride up across the back, which shortens the reading and puts you a size down.
- Breathe normally and stand as you stand. A chest measured on a held breath is not the chest that has to play a shot in the shirt.
- Do not pull the waist tape in. Cricket trousers sit on the hip on a drawcord; a waist measured tight gives you trousers you cannot field in.

We are not going to publish somebody else's clothing ladder with our name on it. The two published charts we compared both have real faults — in one, a junior size and a senior size overlap completely, so an 85 cm chest matches both; in the other the women's ladder runs backwards, and sizing up from Junior 16 to Senior XS makes the garment smaller. Ours will be read off our own garments.

Most of the kit that leaves Meerut is made for a club or an academy, against a list of names and measurements rather than against a size chart. Send us a chest and a waist in centimetres for each player and we cut to those — which is the reason the absence of a size table matters less here than it would anywhere else on this site.
