Fitting a new grip
Use a grip cone: roll the grip up the cone, slide the cone over the handle top, and roll the grip down onto the handle. Remove the old grip first unless you deliberately want a thicker handle — some players run two grips for a fuller feel, and that also raises the bat's balance point slightly. Replace a grip as soon as it goes shiny or starts to split; a slipping handle costs you more shots than a worn blade.
